Types of Available Tests
Rapid Antigen Tests
The Sofia SARS Antigen FIA test is a rapid antigen test that offers quick, same- or next-day results. This test is performed by swabbing your nose for a fluid sample to determine if the sample contains proteins found on the surface of the coronavirus. We recommend this test if you are currently experiencing symptoms consistent with those of COVID-19, such as cough, fever, breathing issues, sore throat, gastrointestinal distress, body aches, fatigue, headache, or recent loss of taste/smell. Results of this test are most accurate when the test is administered within 1-5 days after symptom onset. Results will be available within 24 hours.
Cost to you: We will bill your insurance for the test. Please contact your health plan directly to verify coverage specific to your policy. If you are uninsured, the total cash-pay cost is $150 for the visit and test.
Shallow Nasal Swab Viral PCR Tests
This highly effective test uses a shallow nasal swab, which is more comfortable for patients than earlier COVID-19 tests. The molecular test is the most accurate for determining if you have an active SARS-CoV-2 infection. It detects the virus’s genetic material. During the test, a Saddleback provider will insert a nasal swab, which looks like a long Q-tip, about two inches into your nose and swirl it around for a few seconds. The swab is then removed and sent to a lab for testing. Turnaround times for results may vary, and generally take 3-4 days.
Rapid COVID-19 Antibody Tests are now here.
This blood test only requires a finger prick. You will be seen in the office, not curbside. The test takes 15 minutes to run. Our physician will explain your results, answer your questions, and explain what having antibodies means for your day to day life. Please contact your insurer to determine your out-of-pocket costs. Cash pay cost for the test and physician consultation is $166. Learn more $
